Luncheons are usually arranged for the second Tuesday of each alternate month. We visit a wide range of carefully selected restaurants that provide quality meals at a modest price. Luncheons are well supported by members. 

The September lunch was at No. 72 or Pizza By D’Asporto at 72 Napier Street, Essendon on the corner of Raleigh Road. Twenty-one members and friends attended this delightful restaurant and enjoyed their lunch.

The July luncheon was at the Boathouse, 7 The Boulevard, Moonee Ponds. Twenty-two members attended a delightful event and the rain held off for us. Parking is available on the Boulevard. The closest tram stop is on Maribyrnong Road for the 57 and 82 trams, and the 468 and 469 bus stop is at the corner of Hurtle Street and Maribyrnong Road. For a map click here. The luncheon in May was at the Royal Hotel, 873 Mount Alexander Road, Essendon. Fourteen members enjoyed good food and good company with much laughter. For pictures please check the newsletter. For a map please click here. The Royal is accessible via Essendon station and stop #41 on the 59 tram line. Centre of the road parking is available on Mt. Alexander Road.

The second luncheon for 2025 was cancelled as too many people were on holiday and too few people were available on March 11th.

The Christmas Luncheon is in lieu of the December meeting and for 2024 was on Tuesday December 10th at Young and Jacksons, 1, Swanston Street, Melbourne City. A lovely meal was enjoyed and photos can be seen in the Christmas luncheon gallery To view a map, please click here. 

The October club luncheon was at Riverside Golf and Sports Centre, 75 Newsom St, Ascot Vale. It was a beautiful day and the 14 members that attended enjoyed a very happy and social event. The latest club luncheon was held on August 13th at The Angler’s Tavern, 2 Angler’s Way, Maribyrnong down by the river. The Angler’s has recently been refurbished and reopened, and is the previous home of Melbourne North Probus. There is plenty of parking at the venue, and for a map click here. A ‘Christmas in July’ luncheon was organised on July 24th by Windy Hill for all the Probus groups that meet there. This unique event involved a show and lunch – a turkey, ham and pork stack with fresh garden vegetables followed by Xmas pudding and brandy custard. For pictures of the event please click here.

The third luncheon for 2024 was on June 11th at the Union Hotel in Ascot Vale. About 20 attended and we had a very friendly, pleasant and chatty lunch.

The second luncheon for 2024 was in March at the Royal Hotel, Essendon.

The proposed 2023 Melbourne Cup Day Luncheon was cancelled.

The luncheon in September 2023 was at the Union Hotel, Ascot Vale. Those who attended enjoyed the occasion and the food.

The August luncheon was at the Old England Hotel, Heidelberg. 30 members and guests attended and thoroughly enjoyed the event. Many chose the “Christmas in July” menu, while some choose from the a la carte menu (click here).

The May luncheon was held at Green Bamboo Vietnamese Restaurant, North Essendon. Twenty-one members attended and enjoyed the delicious meal.

The luncheon for March was held at Young and Jacksons Hotel in Melbourne CBD. Around 30 members and friends enjoyed the lunch (and seeing Chloe).

The first luncheon for 2022 was held in April at KL Laksa, Moonee Ponds. The June luncheon was held at Mr Majestic Cafe Bar, Hall Street, Moonee Ponds.

The August luncheon was held at the Thonglor Thai Restaurant, Edgewater. The small group enjoyed the food, service and the cosy ambience.
