Pam Haigh

Pam, who suffers from Pattern Dystrophy (of the retina), told us about her experiences living with a guide dog. An inspiring lady.

Her guide dog is Bryl – on the right with the harness, and she is also transitioning Aster (left) to retirement. She showed us how much they eat – which generated great interest from the dogs – and explained why they cost $60,000 each from birth, through training, until joining their owner. Pam also shared some of her ‘blind’ aids, a pointer that recognises labels she has placed on cooking herbs or on clothing; also a gadget to help her pour hot water without spilling. Marie then gave the dogs their lunch, a carrot each.
